U.S. Skateboarder Nyjah Huston Critiques Quality of Olympic Bronze Medal

Paris — American skateboarder Nyjah Huston publicly questioned the durability of his Olympic bronze medal from the Paris 2024 Games, sharing concerns over its quality in a recent social media post.

According to Philippines News Agency, the medal began showing signs of wear unusually quickly. He detailed how the medal deteriorated after minimal exposure to sweat and handling by friends during the weekend. "These Olympic medals look great when they are brand new but after letting it sit on my skin with some sweat and letting friends wear it over the weekend, they are apparently not as high quality as you would think," Huston stated, noting that even the front of the medal started to chip off slightly.

Huston, who won the bronze in men’s street skateboarding on July 29, suggested that the quality of Olympic medals should be improved. His remarks highlighted his disappointment, comparing the medal's condition to looking like "it went to war and back." His comments come as the Paris Games are set to conclude on Sunday, with Japan’s Yuto Horigome taking gold and fellow American Jagger Eaton securing the silver in the same event.
