Tawi-Tawi Police Seize 400 Sacks of Suspected Smuggled Rice

Bongao, Tawi-Tawi - Early Tuesday, police in Tawi-Tawi intercepted 400 sacks of imported rice left unclaimed near the coastal area of Barangay Pagasinan, the provincial capital. Brig. Gen. Prexy Tanggawohn, police director of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, reported that the sacks were found abandoned around 5 a.m. following a tip from a concerned citizen.

According to Philippines News Agency, inquiries to determine the ownership of the rice among the local residents yielded no results, with community members stating they had no knowledge of the owner. The seized rice was subsequently documented and turned over to the Bureau of Customs for proper custody and further legal procedures.
