Super Typhoon Pepito Forces Cancellation of Bicol and Manila Flights.
Manila: All flights in and out of Bicol have been canceled, with a total of 54 flights via Manila also grounded, as Super Typhoon Pepito, internationally known as Man-yi, approaches the region. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced the closure of the Bicol Tower on Saturday afternoon, citing safety concerns.
According to Philippines News Agency, CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio confirmed that all afternoon flights were canceled, with the last flights for Saturday being CEB 325/326. The typhoon is expected to make landfall over Catanduanes either on Saturday night or early Sunday. Forecasts also suggest potential landfall points on the eastern coast of Camarines Sur or Albay.
CAAP has reported that Bicol International Airport, as well as the airports in Naga and Virac, have taken advanced precautions to ensure safety, implementing all necessary precautionary measures. In addition to Bicol, Tacloban and Calbayog airports have also been affected, with 30 flights canceled, impacting mo
re than 1,400 travelers.
Local carriers, including Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific, had already announced the cancellation of several domestic flights via Manila in anticipation of Typhoon Pepito’s impact. The canceled flights include routes between Manila, Tacloban, Daraga (Legazpi), Naga, Masbate, and other destinations. Flights from Cebu to various locations have also been affected.
Passengers affected by these cancellations have several options: they may refund their tickets, store the ticket value in a credit or fund, or choose to rebook or reroute their flights.
