MANILA: Senator Robin Padilla has recently highlighted the significant gross profit of PHP800 million by the local film ‘Rewind’ during the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival, pointing to a resurgence of the Philippine movie industry post-pandemic. In Senate Resolution 909, filed on Monday, Padilla emphasized that this accomplishment reflects the collective efforts and dedication of the industry’s artists, writers, directors, and production teams.
According to Philippines News Agency, the success of “Rewind,” directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar and featuring the real-life couple Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera-Dantes, is a clear indicator of the industry’s revival. He commended the movie for its contribution to the industry and congratulated the entire team involved in its creation. Padilla acknowledged Dingdong and Marian for being an inspiration both on and off the screen, promoting values such as family, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy.
The senator reflected on the challenges faced by the film industry during the pandemic, including halted productions, movie theater closures, and social distancing restrictions. He expressed his pleasure that the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival turned out to be the highest-grossing edition in its history, attributing this success to the hard work and resilience of the industry’s professionals.
