Premier Volleyball League Announces 47 Players for Inaugural Rookie Draft


MANILA—The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) has finalized its list of 47 players for its inaugural rookie draft set for July 8, led by standout athletes from De La Salle University and other top collegiate programs.



According to Philippines News Agency, the original roster of 50 applicants was narrowed down following a detailed review process. Notable among the drafted athletes are De La Salle University’s Thea Gagate, Julia Coronel, Maicah Larroza, and Leila Cruz. They are joined by a diverse group of players from various institutions, including Pierre Abellana from the University of Santo Tomas and Lucille Almonte and Ishie Lalongisip from Adamson University.



The draft will also feature players from across the Philippine collegiate landscape and abroad, such as Aleiah Torres from Brock University and Nathalie Ramacula from Red River College Polytechnic in the United States. Other participants include players from University of the Philippines, University of the East, Ateneo de Manila University, and several other local colleges.



The PVL has scheduled a draft lottery for June 24 to determine the selection order for teams that placed ninth to twelfth in the All-Filipino Conference. This event will be broadcast live as part of ‘The Starting Lineup’ on RPTV and Pilipinas Live. Following the lottery, a Draft Combine will be held on June 25 and 26 at Gameville Ballpark in Mandaluyong, where the draft prospects, alongside free agents, will participate in a series of evaluations including interviews, physical tests, and scrimmages.
