PhilHealth Antique Achieves High Konsulta Package Accreditation in Region 6
Antique, Philippines – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) in Antique has successfully accredited 26 Rural Health Units (RHUs) and government hospitals for the implementation of its Konsulta Package in 2023, making it a leader in the region.
According to Philippines News Agency, Liza Joyce Songcayawon, PhilHealth Antique Information Officer, revealed in an interview on Friday that 17 of the province’s 18 RHUs were accredited this year for the Konsulta Package. The RHU Libertad remains the only unit yet to receive accreditation, pending the appointment of an officer-in-charge (OIC) municipal health officer to lead the program.
Songcayawon also noted that all nine government hospitals in Antique have been accredited by PhilHealth to serve the 225,438 registered members and their dependents under the Konsulta Package. This achievement positions Antique as having the highest number of accredited facilities and registered PhilHealth members in Western Visayas (Region 6).
The Konsulta Package, which provides members access to consultation, health screening, and assessment, was intensified in the province in 2022. As of October 31, 2023, PhilHealth Antique has disbursed PHP 3.7 million in claims to the accredited RHUs and government hospitals.
Songcayawon expressed optimism that RHU Libertad would receive accreditation in the coming year and emphasized the goal of achieving 100-percent registration of residents in Antique as PhilHealth members. She highlighted the need to register individuals who are no longer dependents of their parents, senior citizens, especially those in remote areas, and persons with disabilities not yet registered with the Philippine Registry for PWDs.
PhilHealth Antique is collaborating with the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) to assist senior citizens in registering for the Konsulta Package, which is free for them.
