Opening Ceremony of 12th AMMDM and Related Meetings


?As disasters often affect the most vulnerable, it is critical that recovery efforts are inclusive, ensuring that all individuals, including women, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities, are integrated into the plans, and no one must be left behind towards a stronger ASEAN. This was stated by the Minister of Home Affairs at the Opening Ceremony of the 12th AMMDM and the 13th Conference of Parties, COP to the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response, AADMER.

In the welcoming remarks, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, as Chair of the 12th AMMDM stressed that future strategic planning is crucial, and requires the implementation of sustainable measures and solutions. Therefore, achievements in both policy and operational aspects are essential to fulfilling the aspirations of the AADMER, the ASEAN Declaration on One ASEAN, One Response: ASEAN Responds to Disasters as One in the Region, and the ASEAN Vision 2025 on Disaster Management, as
well as to meet the objectives of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Blueprint 2025.

The meeting is attended by Ministers and Representatives of ASEAN Member States, the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community, the ASEAN Secretariat, the AHA Centre, Timor Leste as an observer, and dialogue partners from People’s Republic of China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.
