Nearly 400 Jobseekers Hired at DOLE Anniversary Job Fairs in National Capital Region
Manila – In a significant employment boost, nearly 400 jobseekers were hired on the spot during job fairs organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in the National Capital Region (NCR) earlier this month. The job fairs were part of the celebrations for DOLE’s founding anniversary and took place in the cities of Manila, Taguig, Malabon, and the municipality of Pateros.
According to Philippines News Agency, the 396 individuals hired represent 30.7 percent of the 1,288 registered jobseekers who participated in the job fairs, which commenced on December 1. DOLE-NCR Director Lawyer Sarah Buena Mirasol, speaking on Monday, highlighted the success of these events and the department’s commitment to organizing similar activities in the future. She emphasized the role of the department in connecting jobseekers with potential employers and its dedication to providing opportunities for Filipinos to find decent employment.
The job fairs in the NCR offered a total of 30,986 job vacancies from various participating employers. Among the most sought-after local positions were customer service representatives, cashiers, drivers, service crew members, sales consultants, merchandisers, bus conductors, pipe fitters, sales clerks, and office staff. For overseas employment, the top vacancies included nurses, occupational/physical therapists, production sewing machine operators, chefs, restaurant workers, butchers, hotel workers, care workers, scaffolders, welders, mechanical engineers, auto mechanics, livestock farmers, and construction workers.
These job fairs were part of a series of events across different regions in the Philippines, commemorating the 90th anniversary of DOLE, with the last activity conducted on December 14. In addition to the job fair, DOLE-NCR also facilitated cash-for-work assistance through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program for 500 beneficiaries and awarded certificates of eligibility under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) to 131 beneficiaries, including eight repatriated individuals from Lebanon and Israel.
