MoU Signing


?Brunei Darussalam and Canada strengthened its maritime cooperation through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, between the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam, MPABD and the Department of Transport of Canada. The MoU was signed recently at the International Maritime Organization, IMO headquarters during the 82nd Session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee meeting held in London, United Kingdom.

Signing on behalf of Brunei Darussalam was Retired Captain Zil Husam bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Chief Executive of MPABD, while Michelle Sanders, Alternate Permanent Representative of Canada to the IMO, represented Canada. The signing was witnessed by His Excellency Retired First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to the United Kingdom. The agreement allows the exchange of seafarers to work on ships registered in both countries, and reflects Brunei Darussalam’s commitment to uphold international standards i
n the maritime sector, especially in the training and certification of seafarers.
