Parañaque City — A mobile application aimed at aiding overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) globally is scheduled for launch in July. The app, developed to streamline government agency efforts and enhance access to welfare assistance, will feature an emergency button linking directly to the Overseas Workers and Welfare Administration (OWWA).

According to Philippines News Agency, the OFW App was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed at the OFW Tulong at Serbisyo Center at Ayala Malls Manila Bay. Present at the signing were Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Ivan John Uy, OWWA Administrator Arnaldo Ignacio, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, and DICT Undersecretary for E-Government David Almirol.

The app will undergo a testing phase with selected OFWs worldwide, with a formal launch anticipated after adjustments are made based on user feedback. Magsino expressed gratitude to DICT and OWWA for their support in bringing the project to fruition.
