Major Drug Bust in Maguindanao Sur Nets P6.8 Million in Shabu

MAGUINDANAO SUR - Police in Maguindanao Sur apprehended a 31-year-old suspect deemed a high-value target during a drug buy-bust operation on Tuesday afternoon, confiscating suspected shabu with a street value of PHP6.8 million.

According to Philippines News Agency, chief of the Sultan Kudarat municipal police station, the operation initially set to occur in Barangay Simuay moved to Barangay Awang in Datu Odin Sinsuat town at 4 p.m. "The suspect, identified as Morsalon Tantong from Zamboanga del Sur, did not resist arrest," Madin stated in a Wednesday interview. The seized shabu weighed approximately one kilogram and was described as high-grade by the authorities.

Madin further noted that two of Tantong's companions managed to escape, leaving him alone in the car at the time of arrest. Previous successful transactions by a police asset with Tantong had marked him as a high-value target. Tantong is now detained at the Sultan Kudarat municipal lock-up and faces charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
