Launching of Movember Awareness Month Campaign.
Salambigar: In 2023, colon cancer emerged as the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men in the country, accounting for 40 fatalities. This was followed by lung cancer and prostate cancer, with 28 and 17 deaths respectively. The Minister of Health highlighted these alarming statistics, stressing the importance of early detection in improving treatment outcomes. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, who also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC), addressed these concerns during the Launching of Movember Awareness Month Campaign.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the Minister noted that in Brunei Darussalam, approximately 1 in 4 men are at risk of developing cancer during their lifetime. The most prevalent types of cancer among men in the country are colorectal cancer, accounting for 23 percent of cases, followed by lung cancer at 14.4 percent, and prostate cancer at 10.9 percent.

‘s Men’s Health Awareness Month is ‘Strength Today for a Healthier Tomorrow’. The event, organized by the Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre through the Brunei Cancer Centre, was held at a shopping centre in Salambigar on the morning of 17th November.
