Lapu-Lapu City Sting Operation Nets P7.4 Million in Illegal Drugs

LAPU-LAPU CITY — In a decisive operation on Black Saturday, law enforcement officers in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, arrested a construction worker found in possession of a substantial quantity of illegal substances. The individual, a 20-year-old male from Toong village, was apprehended with over a kilogram of suspected shabu during the sting.

According to Philippines News Agency, the operation was conducted in Sitio Lawis, Barangay Pusok, where the suspect was caught immediately following a transaction with an undercover officer. Major Albert Jay Samson, the head of the City Intelligence Unit, detailed that the seized drugs, totaling 1.1 kilos, are estimated to have a street value of approximately PHP 7.4 million.

Following the operation, the suspect was taken into custody, where he remains detained pending the formal filing of drug-related charges. The arrest marks a significant achievement for local authorities in their ongoing efforts to combat the distribution of illegal narcotics within the region.
