Improve Patient’s Quality of Life and Well-Being


Palliative Care Services focused on improving the patient’s quality of life and well-being, especially cancer and cardiovascular diseases. In conjunction with the World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, News at Ten brought an approach on Palliative Care Services in the country.

Cancer and cardiovascular diseases are among the leading causes of death in the country. According to the Head of Medical Oncology and Palliative Care Unit, The Brunei Cancer Centre, the Palliative Care Service equipped patients with care so that they live more comfortably.

According to him, the community often has a misconception on palliative care.

As part of Brunei Darussalam National Multi-Sectoral Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases 2021-2025, palliative care is expected to reduce the risk of death among individuals aged 30 to 69 years through assessment; prevention and early treatment.
