GSIS Introduces Digital ID on its 87th Anniversary

MANILA — The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) unveiled its new GSIS Digital ID on Friday, a move that coincides with the organization’s 87th anniversary, celebrated under the theme "GSIS @87: Kabalikat sa Bagong Pilipinas." This initiative is part of the broader digital transformation efforts by the state pension fund.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Digital ID is a major advancement in the fund’s ongoing efforts to automate and improve its services. This digital transformation aims to make transactions safer and more convenient for government workers. The GSIS Digital ID, which is integrated into the GSIS Touch mobile app, facilitates identity authentication, enhances security, and helps prevent fraud. Veloso highlighted that this development is aligned with the Bagong Pilipinas Strategy, marking a new era of accessibility for GSIS services via smartphones. The move follows the discontinuation of the production of UMID cards and eCards in April 2024, transitioning to ATM cards for new enrollees and achieving a 97 percent rate of electronic processing for GSIS loan transactions as of December 2023.
