Five Filipinos Stable After Turbulence Forces Emergency Landing of Singapore Flight

Bangkok – Five Filipino passengers aboard a Singapore-bound flight that experienced severe turbulence are reported to be in stable condition following an emergency landing in Bangkok on Tuesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the passengers, including a neck-fracture victim who is a Singapore-based information technology professional, were taken to various hospitals in Bangkok for medical evaluation.

The group includes a family of three, with a two-year-old toddler whose mother is a registered nurse in the United Kingdom; the father is not listed as an overseas Filipino worker (OFW). Another male passenger involved has no OFW record. The DMW has been closely monitoring the situation, and initial reports from doctors suggest that the injured are responding well to treatment, though further assessments are pending.

The DMW’s Migrant Workers Office in Singapore (MWO-SG), in coordination with the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok, has committed to overseeing the continued care of these individuals until they are fit to travel. The incident occurred approximately 10 hours into the flight during meal service, when unexpected turbulence caused injuries to several unsecured passengers.
