Five Bangladeshis Sentenced for Immigration Act Offences.
Bandar seri begawan: Five Bangladeshis have been sentenced under the Immigration Act, Chapter 17, as confirmed by a press release from the Department of Immigration and National Registration. Four of these individuals were found guilty of overstaying in the country after their immigration passes had expired. Dalim received a sentence of four months imprisonment from the date of remand on 30th October 2024, along with three whippings. Tarikul Islam was sentenced to six months imprisonment and three whippings, while Nur Islam received an eight-month imprisonment sentence and three whippings. Md Nur Nobi was sentenced to four months imprisonment starting 30th October 2024, along with three whippings.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Md Rafiqul Islam was penalized with a $3,000 fine or, alternatively, a three-month imprisonment for harboring immigration offenders. These sentences are the result of ‘Operasi Kabat’ 116 and 121, operations conducted by the Department of Immigration and National Registration.
