Famed PCSO Chorale to hold comeback concert

As part of its 90th anniversary celebrations, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) will relaunch its famed chorale with a special concert at the GSIS Theater in Pasay City on Friday.

The concert, entitled “Celebrating Our Milestones,” will feature a 16-piece string ensemble accompanying the choir, the PCSO said in a news release.

The first part of the performance will showcase songs anchored on the agency’s key milestones throughout its 90-year history.

The second part will present a repertoire that reflects the core values of the PCSO and the principles associated with the “Bagong Pilipinas” initiative of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

The concert will be graced by Imelda Papin, dubbed the “Sentimental Songstress,” who has recently been appointed as a member of the PCSO Board of Directors.

She will perform several numbers during the event.

The PCSO Chorale was established in 1998 and officially introduced during the agency’s 64th anniversary celebration.

Since the
n, it has enhanced the PCSO’s profile through musical excellence in various agency and state events, as well as in local competitions.

Over the years, it has achieved significant milestones, including placing 1st runner-up in the choral competition sponsored by the Government Corporations Athletic Association (GCAA) in September 2000, and winning 1st prize at the National Apostleship of Prayer Christmas Carol Competition later that year.

However, in 2020, the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic necessitated a hiatus, and the chorale became inactive.

The choir was revived in September 2023 under the leadership of PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles.

Renowned conductor and arranger Robert Delgado has been appointed as the new musical director and conductor, leading the chorale in its commitment to serve as the agency’s Ambassadors of Goodwill, and continuing its mission to raise the PCSO’s corporate image through their captivating musical performances.
