Exports Increase in September 2023, According to Economic Planning Department

Exports in September 2023 saw a 7.4 percent increase compared to August 2023, driven by a rise in mineral fuels, notably in crude oil and petrochemical products. This data comes from a press release by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics.

According to Radio Television Brunei, Despite the rise in exports, total trade in September 2023 experienced a four percent decline compared to the previous month. This decrease is primarily attributed to a 19.1 percent fall in imports value.

The major imports for September 2023 were predominantly in mineral fuels, followed by machinery and transport equipment, food, manufactured goods, and chemicals. Key export markets during this period included Australia, Singapore, and the People’s Republic of China, with mineral fuels and chemicals being the primary exported commodities.
