Comelec-Pangasinan Exceeds Voter Registration Target for Midterm Elections

Pangasinan-The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Pangasinan has surpassed its voter registration target for the upcoming midterm elections, reaching 123,000 new registrants as of August 15, well beyond the initial goal of 75,000 to 100,000. This achievement was announced during a virtual forum hosted by the Philippine Information Agency-Pangasinan.

According to Philippines News agency, the election supervisor for Comelec-Pangasinan, the success of the registration drive was significantly boosted by the implementation of off-site registration centers across malls, schools, and villages throughout the province. Salas highlighted that this strategy not only reached the target but also compensated for the more than 100,000 voters delisted following the 2022 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections. With a total of 2.1 million voters now registered in Pangasinan, Salas continues to encourage residents to register before the September 30 deadline. Additionally, Comelec-Pangasinan will host a voter’s education and registration fair, including a demonstration of the new automated counting machines at Lyceum Northwestern University in Dagupan City on August 20.
