CIDG arrests BARMM police chief for syndicated estafa

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) police chief Brig. Gen. John Guyguyon in connection with two counts of syndicated estafa on Wednesday night. A CIDG-BARMM tracker team served the arrest warrants issued by two Quezon City regional trial courts which were received by Guyguyon at his office in Camp SK Pendatun, Parang, Maguindanao del Norte around 9:30 p.m. The warrants recommended no bail bond. Guyguyon did not resist arrest, the CIDG reported. The CIDG team had coordinated with Brig. Gen. Gil Tria, PRO-BARMM deputy regional director for administration, in serving the warrants. Guyguyon's warrants were issued by Judge Catherine Pespes Manodon of the National Capital Judicial Region (NCJR), RTC Branch 104, Quezon City dated Dec. 1, 2022; and Judge Kathleen Rosario dela Cruz-Espinosa of NCJR, RTC Branch 91, Quezon City dated May 20, 2022. CIDG-BARMM officials confirmed the arrest but declined to issue statements. Efforts to reach Guyguyon for comments proved futile as of posting.
