Brunei Sustainable Economy Forum 2024
Embracing the circular economy is a key opportunity to make better use of the resources. For Brunei Darussalam, this approach not only helps enhance sustainability but also creates local jobs and encourages innovation in green technologies. The Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism said it is important as the country faces challenges such as reliance on non-renewable energy, global climate change, lack of international regulations or standards for circular practices as well as infrastructure and technological limitations. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin stated the matter in his keynote address during the ‘Brunei Sustainable Economy Forum 2024’. Yang Berhormat said Brunei Darussalam is well placed to develop the tourism industry as the country are home to rich and unique biodiversity and cultural resources. Developing eco-friendly tourist facilities helps minimize impact to the environment and appeals to eco-conscious travellers.

ders, the forum discussed how to develop Brunei’s circular economy and contribute to achieving our Sustainable Development Goals. The forum was held at Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Bandar Seri Begawan and organised by the ASEAN and APEC Business Advisory Councils of Brunei Darussalam in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Economy.
