Brunei Man Faces Death Penalty For Drug Trafficking

A local drug trafficking suspect in Brunei, has faced multiple charges, including one carrying the death penalty, local media reported, yesterday.

Mohamad Sharifudin, a 38-year-old local man, faced a charge of trafficking 193.5 grams of pure methylamphetamine, in 247.04 grams of crystals in Feb this year, according to the local Borneo Bulletin daily.

The charges carried the death penalty, as the alleged amount of methylamphetamine is over 100 grams.

Prosecutors also levelled a possession charge against the defendant, involving 8.19 grams of pure meth on the same occasion.

The case was fixed for a preliminary inquiry on Nov 22-23
