Brunei Health Minister Emphasizes Integrated Measures for NCD Prevention at Cardiac Society Meeting.


BERAKAS: The prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, require integrated measures from all levels, especially from the aspects of policy, health system, community action in Brunei Darussalam, and each individual behaviour. The Minister of Health stated the matter at the 11th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Cardiac Society Brunei Darussalam 2024 at the International Convention Centre in Berakas, 3rd November morning. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health, also underlined that the rising cases of heart disease place a strain on the healthcare system. Currently, the ratio of cardiologists to the population in the country is approximately one cardiologist per 37,500 people.

According to Radio Television Brunei, at the event, the new logo for the Cardiac Society Brunei Darussalam was launched. Also held was a prize presentation to the winner of the logo creation competition, along with presentations for the rec
ognition of Fellow Cardiac Society Brunei Darussalam 2024 and a token of appreciation. With the theme ‘Everyday Cardiology’, the meeting focused on Ischaemic Heart Disease epidemiology, research presentations, and networking opportunities.
