Brunei Darussalam Celebrates World Children’s Day with Focus on Children’s Rights.
Bandar Seri Begawan: Brunei Darussalam joins countries around the world in celebrating World Children’s Day, which is celebrated every 20th of November. The celebration is the country’s commitment to ratifying the Convention on the Rights of the Child, CRC, and increasing the spirit of unity and awareness of the rights and well-being of children in the community. The culmination of this year’s celebration was held this morning at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the event was graced by the presence of Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. This year’s theme, ”Setiap Kanak-Kanak Punya Hak” or Every Child Has Rights, emphasized that every child, including those with disabilities, regardless of their background, abilities, or circumstances, is entitled to enjoy access to their rights. The celebration included cultural elements such as the Adai-Adai Traditional Dance and Choir performances.

nally, the ‘Voices of Children’ Workshop was held in conjunction with World Children’s Day, featuring presentations centered around the theme ‘Memperkasa kanak-kanak untuk turut serta: Hak Kanak-kanak dan Matlamat Pembangunan Mampan’ or ‘Empowering children to participate: Children’s Rights and the Sustainable Development Goals.’ Yang Berhormat Dayang Hajah Rosmawatty binti Haji Abdul Mumin, Member of the Legislative Council, was present at the workshop, reinforcing the importance of children’s rights and their role in sustainable development.
