Atthaya Thitikul of Thailand Dominates at Asia Pacific Cup; Filipino Golfers Finish Joint 23rd


MANILA, Philippines – Thai golfer Atthaya Thitikul clinched victory at the Asia Pacific Cup, held at the Pondok Indah course in Jakarta, Indonesia, with Filipino golfers Daniella Uy and Bianca Pagdanganan finishing joint 23rd. The tournament concluded on Saturday, showcasing a mix of experienced and emerging talents in women’s golf.



According to Philippines News Agency, Thitikul secured her win with a 69 in the final round, culminating in a 14-under 202. This impressive performance placed her seven strokes ahead of her closest competitor, Korean Dayeon Lee, and earned her a prize of USD 100,000.



Daniella Uy and Bianca Pagdanganan, representing the Philippines, each carded scores of 219, with Uy scoring a two-over 74 and Pagdanganan a 76 in the final round. Their efforts resulted in a joint 23rd finish.



Dottie Ardina, another Filipino participant, matched par at 72 but ended up tied at 28th with a score of 221. Princess Superal, the champion from the previous year, finished joint 45th with a score of 230 in a field of 57 competitors.



Thitikul’s victory was marked by consistency and skill, with five birdies against a bogey in the first 11 holes. She maintained her lead with a steady performance in the final seven holes, despite a bogey.



Korean golfers also showed strong performances, with Minbyeol Kim finishing third with a 211 after scoring a 70, and amateurs Minsol Kim and Hyosong Lee tying for fourth at 212.



In team play, Thitikul, along with Jaravee Boonchant, won the team title with a 15-under 417, leaving them seven strokes ahead of their closest competitors. The Filipino teams of Uy-Ardina and Pagdanganan-Superal ended up 13th and tied for 19th, respectively, in a competitive field.
