ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management Meeting

The 45th ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management, ACDM meeting continued on 23rd October, with separate meetings with ACDM dialogue partners from Japan, the People’s Republic of China, and the Republic of Korea. The meeting held at a hotel in Jerudong represented an important step towards enhancing regional and international cooperation in disaster management.

The meetings were co-chaired by Retired Colonel Muhd Harrith Rashidi bin Haji Muhd Jamin, Director of the National Disaster Management Centre. During the 8th ACDM Plus Japan Meeting, the ACDM Chair reaffirmed Japan’s continuous support for ASEAN ACDM activities by encouraging cooperation between ASEAN public and private entities and Japan in disaster management.

Meanwhile, at the 8th ACDM Plus People’s Republic of China Meeting, the Chair focused on advancing disaster resilience and risk reduction across the ASEAN region and the People’s Republic of China.

Subsequently, during the 7th ACDM Plus Republic of Korea Meeting, comprehensive discussions were
made including on several matters aimed at enhancing disaster resilience and response capabilities in the ASEAN region and the Republic of Korea.
