Appointment of New Members of Brunei’s Council of Succession Announced.


Bandar Seri Begawan: By the command of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, it is hereby announced that His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to the appointment of the new Members of the Council of Succession as follows:

According to Radio Television Brunei, the newly appointed President of the Council is Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar, who will serve as Ex-Officio, Yang Di-Pertua Adat Istiadat Negara. The Vice President appointed is Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, who serves as Ex-Officio, State Mufti.

The members appointed are Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Mejar Jeneral Bersara Pengiran Haji Ibnu Basit bin Pengiran Datu Penghulu
Pengiran Haji Apong, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral Bersara Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Maharaja Diraja Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Wahab bin Haji Md. Said, and Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Mohd. Yusof.

Yang Mulia Pengiran Haji Raffizanna bin Pengiran Haji Razali has been appointed as the Secretary. He currently serves as the Deputy Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Governance, at the Prime Minister’s Office and will act as the Grand Chamberlain. The appointments are effective from Thursday, 19th Jamadilawal 1446, corresponding to 21st November 2024.
