AAPA Highlights Carbon-Friendly Aircraft Plans at 68th Media Conference.
Bandar Seri Begawan: Plans for carbon-friendly aircraft have been identified as a significant pathway toward achieving the common goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050. This initiative includes focusing on short-haul aircraft, which currently contribute approximately 28 percent of industry emissions. The details were shared during the 68th Assembly of Presidents of the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines on November 13, 2024.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Subhas Menon, Director General of the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines, emphasized a strategy that prioritizes technology in conjunction with Sustainable Aviation Fuel as a more reliable route to carbon neutrality. During the press conference, the Assembly adopted a resolution urging civil aviation authorities, aviation safety agencies, and airlines to collaborate closely to share best practices through data analysis. The aim is to mitigate risks such as the loss of control in-flight. Additionally, the resolution called on all stakeholders
to support the implementation of safety measures that address the most critical risk categories identified in the Asia Pacific region.
