36,000 Rescue Personnel and Assets Deployed for Typhoon Pepito Response – OCD.


Manila: Office of Civil Defense (OCD) administrator Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno announced on Saturday that more than 36,000 rescue personnel and their assets have been strategically positioned to swiftly respond to any adverse effects anticipated from Super Typhoon Pepito, internationally known as Man-yi. The typhoon is expected to impact the country over the weekend.

According to Philippines News Agency, Nepomuceno emphasized during a press briefing that this “strategic deployment” forms a crucial part of their comprehensive preparations for the impending super typhoon. The rescue teams are composed of personnel from the OCD, the Army, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard, and Bureau of Fire Protection, as well as local government units.

Nepomuceno highlighted that all land, sea, and air assets supporting these rescue personnel are strategically placed to ensure rapid deployment when necessary. He elaborated, “Just to give an idea, if we combine all personnel from these agencies, from the uniformed services, w
e have on standby 36,694 personnel, ready and trained to respond to these types of calamities.”

Furthermore, Nepomuceno detailed that the combined transportation assets of these services and agencies total 2,299, which includes land vehicles, watercraft, aircraft, and vessels from the Navy and Coast Guard.
