31st Civil Service Day Celebration


With the theme, ‘Civil Service Resilience and Solidarity, the Catalyst of the Nation’s Well-Being,’ the culmination of this year’s Civil Service Day celebration was the presentation of the Public Sector Performance Grading Programme; Premier Innovation Award; Excellent Civil Service Employee Award; and the Civil Service Staff Meritorious and Dedication Award.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam presented the awards. The ceremony took place at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

Also in attendance were His Majesty’s sons, brothers and sister:

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Jefri Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador At-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

ajor General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yussof, Minister at The Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Defence; and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd. Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, as well as the Co-Deputy Chairmen of the Executive Committee for the Celebration.

The reading of Surah Al-Anfal Verses 45 to 47 was presented by Awang Haji Mohamad Zul-Hafiz bin Awang Tengah, Education Officer while the interpretation was presented by Haji Awang Muhammad Najib bin Haji Awang, Religious Development Officer.

The Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Defence in his welcoming address touched on the relevant theme of this year’s celebration and the need for civil servants to continue to innovate. His Majesty then officiated the launching of the Special Edition Book.

A poetry declamation of the ‘Syair Perlembagaan Negeri Brunei’ written by Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Oma
r Ali Saifuddien Saadul Khairi Waddien enlivened the ceremony.

This year, the Public Service Commission, at the Prime Minister’s Office, was awarded a certificate of recognition for achieving 4 stars and the Department of Pharmaceutical Services, Ministry of Health received a certificate of recognition for achieving 3 stars, Public Sector Performance Grading Programme.

The Silver Award for the Premier Innovation Award went to Hemaheroes from the Department of Pharmaceutical Services, with a project ‘Implementation of Bloodkad Mobile Application Through Public-Private Partnership’; and Musaeadat Group from the Directorate of Development and Work Services, highlighted the ‘Network Accessible Web Help Desk System’.

The NLMS Group from the Labour Department won the bronze Award with the project ‘National Labour Management System’. 41 officers and staff of Divisions 2; 3; 4; and 5 from every ministry received the Excellent Civil Service Employee Award. Meanwhile, 7 Division 5 employees were awarded the Civil
Service Staff Meritorious and Dedication Award.

Doa Selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

As a landmark for unity and support, the Civil Service Day Celebration is a platform for Civil Servants of all levels to always step forward to be more productive, efficient, innovative and dynamic.
